Grade CF3 is part of ASTM A351 standard, which defines valves, flanges, fittings, and other components subjected to pressure and temperature. This standard is part of stainless steel materials. Grade CF3 belongs to cast stainless steels.
The buyer is responsible for specifying the grade of items such as valves, fittings, flanges, etc., that need to be procured. This selection depends on the design requirements, operating conditions, mechanical properties, high-temperature specifications, or corrosion resistance characteristics.
All casting grades, such as CF8, CF8M, CF3, and CF3M, must have appropriate thermal behavior for design and chemical specifications.
Grade CF3, which is a type of cast stainless steel, has the following chemical properties as shown in the table below.
| % | % | % | % | % | % | % | % |
| CARBON | MANGANESE | SILICON | SULFUR | PHOSPHORUS | CHROMIUM | NICKEL | MOLYBDENUM |
| 0.03 | 1.50 | 2.00 | 0.040 | 0.040 | 17.0-21.0 | 8.0-12.0 | 0.5 |
The mechanical properties of grade CF3 are as follows:
| TENSILE STRENGTH KSI (Mpa) | Yield strength ksi (Mpa) | Elongation in 2in. Or 50mm |
| 70 (485) | 30 (225) | 35 |
The temperature limit for grade CF3 is above 800°F (427°C).
