Knife Valve

The Knife Gate Valve is a subtype of gate valve specifically designed to operate with a knife-like gate, effectively slicing through viscous fluids and media with suspended solids. This valve is widely utilized across various industries for its capability to regulate the flow of liquids, slurries, and powders, especially in applications involving thick or abrasive substances. The knife gate valve’s sharp-edged blade not only controls flow but also ensures reliable sealing and minimizes buildup, providing excellent control even in challenging environments.
In newer models, replaceable rubber linings are incorporated at the inlet and outlet to improve resistance against wear and corrosion, enhancing valve durability. When fully open, the rubber liner overlaps with the fluid pathway, effectively shielding the valve body and blade from potential corrosion damage.

Material:

Selecting the proper materials for knife gate valves is essential to ensure performance and durability. Key factors such as fluid type, corrosiveness, temperature, pressure, viscosity, and fluid density play a critical role in material choice. Knife gate valve bodies are typically made from cast iron (GGG40 or GG25), steel, or stainless steel. The blade, exposed directly to process fluid, requires robust material properties—typically stainless steel or steel with protective chrome or aluminum bronze coatings to resist corrosion and abrasion.
The valve shaft, or stem, is crafted from steel or stainless steel and undergoes heat treatment to improve wear and pressure resistance.
