The Gate Valve, also known as a Sliding Gate Valve, is one of the most commonly used types of industrial valves across various industries. It typically consists of a disk that moves in a linear motion and is employed to either start or stop the flow of a fluid. Sometimes referred to as a Slide Valve, gate valves are characterized by their linear motion. They are specifically designed to reduce pressure drop to the lowest possible level, making them an essential component in many industrial applications.
There are two main types of gate valves used in industries:
1. Parallel Gate Valve: This type includes a flat gate disk placed between parallel seats. A distinctive feature of this valve is the sharp edge at the bottom of the gate, which is designed to cut through and remove solid particles that may enter the valve.
2. Wedge Gate Valve: This type utilizes wedge-shaped gates for shutting off flow. It features two inclined seats and a wedge-shaped gate to ensure a tight seal in the closed position (shut-off mode).

Types of Gate Valve
1.BOLTED BONN
2. CRYOGENIC EXTENDED BONNET
3. BELLOW SEAL
4. PRESSURE SEAL
5. THROUGH CONDUIT
Material:
Gate valves can be made from a variety of materials, including steel, cast iron, plastics (PE, PP, UPVC, etc.), brass, bronze, and specialized alloys. In most cases, carbon steel and stainless steel are the preferred materials for valve construction. Carbon steel is ideal for non-corrosive fluids, while stainless steel offers excellent corrosion resistance, particularly in high-temperature applications (up to 800°C).
Stainless steel is also widely used due to its excellent corrosion resistance and capability to withstand temperatures as high as 800°C, making it suitable for high-temperature applications.
