Pinch Valve

Pinch valves are unique flow control valves with a flexible, elastic sleeve that can regulate fluid flow by either mechanical actuation or fluid pressure. These valves offer a straight-through, gap-free flow path without moving internal parts, making them ideal for handling slurries, food products, and pharmaceuticals. The soft valve body allows for a secure seal around trapped solids, effectively preventing leakage and maintaining a clean, obstruction-free passage.

Advantages of Pinch Valves

Limitations of Pinch Valves

1. Not suitable for high-temperature or high-pressure applications
2. Not recommended for use with gaseous

 

Types of Pinch Valves

Depending on the body design, there are two primary types of pinch valves:

1. Open Pinch Valves
2. Closed Pinch Valves

 

Material:

Lightweight materials are preferred for pinch valve bodies. The elastomer sleeve must be chosen carefully as it directly contacts the fluid and needs to be resistant to abrasion and corrosion. Common materials for the pinch valve body and sleeve include EPDM, NBR, natural rubber, silicone, food-grade rubber, GRS, neoprene, butyl, Buna-N, PTFE, FDA-compliant materials, and Hypalon. These materials are selected for their durability, flexibility, and resistance to wear.
