Ball Valves

Categories

Ball valves are characterized by a spherical closure element, which rotates to either open or close the flow of fluid through the valve. The seat of these valves is conically shaped, ensuring uniform stress distribution on the seat surface. Ball valves consist of a hemispherical gate that rotates either a quarter-turn or a half-turn to open or close the flow path. The spherical ball used in these valves controls the flow of fluid downstream. When the hole in the ball aligns with the flow path, the valve is open; when the hole is perpendicular to the flow, the valve is closed.
Key Characteristics:If ball valves remain partially open for long periods, high pressure drop through the ball hole could deform the soft seat, potentially bending toward the edge of the hole. In extreme cases, the ball may become stuck in place. Ball valves allow materials to flow through without obstruction in a pipe-sized channel.

Types of Ball Valves Based on Body Construction

One-Piece Body This type of valve features a single, unified body structure, as illustrated below.

Multi-Piece Body These valves consist of detachable body sections and are available in two configurations: two-piece and three-piece designs.

1.2. Two-Piece Body:

  1. main body
  2. Body Connector

2.2. Three-Piece Body:

  1.  main body
  2. BODY CONNECTOR (RIGHT)
  3. BODY CONNECTOR (LEFT)

Types of Ball Valves:

1. METAL SEATED
2.METAL SEATED TRUNNION
3.METAL SEATED (UDV)
4.TRUNNION MOUNTED (3 PICES FORGED )
5.CAST TRUNION (2 PICES )
6.FLOATING
7.SEMI TRUNNION BALL VALVE
8.FLOATING 3 WAY BAll valve

Material:

Ball valves can be made from a variety of materials such as steel, cast iron, plastic (PE, PP, UPVC, etc.), brass, bronze, and special alloys. In most cases, carbon steel and stainless steel are chosen for valve construction.
Carbon steel is particularly common for non-corrosive fluids. It performs well under continuous service at temperatures up to 425°C.
