Bend Fitting

Bend

Categories

A Bend is a type of pipe fitting used in piping systems to change the direction of flow. It is formed by bending the pipe either through hot induction or cold bending processes, which results in an angled shape. During the bending process, the cross-section of the pipe changes from circular to elliptical. The outer wall of the pipe becomes thinner due to the tensile force, while the inner wall experiences crinkling.

The Difference Between a Bend and an Elbow:

  1. Bends typically have a minimum bending radius of 1.5 times the pipe radius, while elbows have a bending radius of less than 1.5 times the pipe radius.
  2. Bends are smooth without corners or angles, whereas elbows have defined angles.

Applications

  1. Connection
  2. Changing directions
