Rebar

Categories

Rebar, or reinforcement bar, is a long, cylindrical, solid steel bar. Since concrete has a very high compressive strength but relatively weak tensile and torsional strength, rebar is used in construction to enhance tensile and torsional strength. In some specific cases, other structural steels such as channel bars (ناودانی) or square tubing (قوطی) are also used to reinforce concrete.

Types of Rebar:

  1. A1 Rebar (Plain, Soft): Smooth, non-ribbed rebar.
  2. A2 Rebar (Semi-Hard with Simple Ribbing): Has simple ribs to improve bonding with concrete.
  3. A3 Rebar (Hard with Twisted Ribbing): More commonly used for structural applications.
  4. A4 Rebar (Hard with Complex Ribbing): Has complex ribbing for superior bond strength in concrete.

Material:

Rebar can be found in two materials:

  1. Carbon Steel Rebar: Commonly used where high resistance to corrosion and wear is not a priority, such as in regular construction projects. This is also the most economical type.
  2. Alloy Steel Rebar: Used in situations that require high resistance to corrosion and wear, such as in marine or industrial environments. Examples include chromium, tungsten, nickel, and manganese alloy rebars.

Difference Between Rebar and Reinforcing Bars

Rebars simply the steel bar used for reinforcement, whereas refers to the processed and shaped rebar used in concrete structures. Rebars are welded together to create an "armature" for reinforced concrete. This process is called(armature binding), and once the armature is in place, the concrete is poured over it to enhance its overall strength and resistance.

Applications

  1.  Building Construction
  2. Shear Wall Construction
  3. Reinforced Frames
  4. Food Industry
  5. Pharmaceutical and Health Industries
  6. Machinery
  7. Fasteners Production
  8. Door Hinges Production
